Drawing Classes Christchurch

Life Drawing - A Homage to Edith Collier
A very special six week figure drawing programme for anyone who loves life drawing and portraiture, or anyone who would like to try it.
With a different model and new exercises every week it's an opportunity to develop your drawing skills and your understanding of the human form through more than 100 drawings of your own.
This life drawing season is a bit different. Held in the Christchurch Art Gallery Auditorium we will explore drawing the human form through the eyes of artist Edith Collier. Colliers unique approach to her subject matter through form, light and shade, composition and styling will all be examined.
With a different model each week we will spend some time warming up with quick sketches of short active poses. The length of pose is gradually increased and we finish the session with two or three drawings of up to 20 minutes. In the portraiture sessions we will also be working fast and slow to get a sense of the person and develop a good likeness. We hope you will leave with many drawings you love.
Held at our fabulous city venue in the auditorium of Christchurch Art Gallery there will be green tea in the breaks and the opportunity to wander the gallery, as it’s open late.
All skill levels are welcome. If you have never been to a Life Drawing session this is an easy and relaxed place to start.
