Drawing Classes Christchurch

A six week figure drawing programme for anyone who loves life drawing and portraiture, or anyone who would like to try it.

With a different model and new exercises every week it's an opportunity to develop your drawing skills and your understanding of the human form through more than 100 drawings of your own.

Our Life Drawing Classes follow the standard form. With a different model each week we spend some time warming up with quick sketches of short active poses. The length of pose is gradually increased and we finish the session with two or three drawings of up to 20 minutes. In the portraiture sessions we will also be working fast and slow to get a sense of the person and develop a good likeness.

We will workshop faces, hands and feet, proportions, anatomy and drawing with light and shade. It is a great class which our students love. The level of focus in these sessions is very high and it is a wonderful atmosphere which produces some fantastic drawings.

Held at our fabulous city venue in the Christchurch Art Gallery there will be green tea in the breaks and the opportunity to wander the gallery, as it’s open late.

All skill levels are welcome. If you have never been to a Life Drawing session this is an easy and relaxed place to start. We will provide you with everything you need to know to join any Life Drawing group.
